Title: Fiberglassing Post by: Bob Gray on February 15, 2011, 10:18:58 AM When I cut fiberglass I always end up loose strands everywhere. These are pesty to handle and don't always leave the best finish at the sides. We've come up with a solution to this problem with a product call "Fray-Check". It's a liquid and you just lay a bead where you want to cut. After it dries you can cut the glass. It leaves a nice tight edge that stays that way if you handle it with a little care. I'm sure most fabric stores carry it, I get mine at Jo Ann Fabrics ( after a stiff shot to get the courage to go in there).
I previously wrote about using peel ply under wrapping plastic when glassing to get a smooth finished surace. I forgot to mention that it's also a good idea polyester batting as an absorber of epoxy over the peel ply. Bob, US 65 |
