Title: St. Martin's Bay / St. Igance, MI 2/26 & 27 Post by: sieglege on February 26, 2011, 05:21:53 PM Got a report from David Frost that about 10 boats raced today (Saturday) in 10-20 mph winds on St. Martin's Bay, north of St. Ignace, MI. Ice was reported to be 5 or 6, and racing planned again for Sunday.

Predicted light to no wind turned into a fantastic day of sailing with 10+ mph wind with a few spots of much more. 8 boats raced all afternoon. More ice than we could measure, remains of snow made for a few launchers here and there, overall a 5 or 6. Sunday started out with the same light wind and an inch or so of fresh snow. After sending Julie out to see if it was sailable the wind came up strong but very shifty which resulted in no racing but a good time.

Dick W. and I will be checking a few ponds in Northern Michigan tomorrow and we will keep you informed. David Title: Re: St. Martin's Bay / St. Igance, MI 2/26 & 27 Post by: rpotcova on March 01, 2011, 02:38:40 PM Thanks for the feedback. Please keep us informed.
Just like everyone else, I hate waiting around for ice. And with spring in the air people tend to get out of the iceboating mode and into other things. I want to sail at least one more time but patience is running thin. I feel like this weekend is our best bet to keep the Centrals a respectable sized regatta. Would like to see 30 boats on the line. Besides, Ron is in the Caribean and Matt in California. Who will be the next member of the Central Championship Club?
