2015 Canadian Region DN Championship Dates: February 14-15, 2015 1. Rules: All races will be governed by the Racing Rules of the NIA (National Iceboat Authority) and the the By-Laws of the IDNIYRA. 2. Eligibility: All DN class yachts meeting the requirements of the Official Specifications and whose skippers are in good standing with the IDNIYRA are eligible. Proof of personal liability insurance will be needed at the time of registration. 3. Site Information and Postings: A. Primary Site is Kingston, Ontario, subject to ice conditions B. Site Information will be posted on the IDNIYRA bulletin board, including any necessary change of venue or date 4. Races: A. Seven race regatta format. Three race minimum will constitute a regatta. B. First race scheduled for 11:00am Saturday, February 14. 5. Registration and Fees: On-line registration is encouraged, once available at https://ice.idniyra.org/ , including submission of proof of personal liability insurance. Payment of $20 regatta fee is not required until arrival on site. On-site registration and payment of fees are available from 9:30 to 10:00am on the ice in the Pits. On-site payment will be accepted in CDN or US cash at par. (One dollar of the entry fee is an IDNIYRA levy for class event insurance coverage.) 6. Sailing instructions will be posted at the launch site. Final sailing instructions will be delivered at skippers meeting before first race. 7. Prizes: - Perpetual trophies for first overall (Canadian Champion) and first Canadian finisher. We will try for 21/22 February, although longer term forecasts are not yet that encouraging ..... Watch this space! Kingston still has several inches of snow cover over slush, caused by the snow load flooding the ice, so a thaw-rain-freeze cycle would be wonderful. Other sites are likely the same. Date (and venue) for next attempt tbd, weather willing. Warren Nethercote Canadian Rear Commodore |
