Title: Weather observations and forecasts Post by: Bob Gray on January 01, 2008, 08:42:35 AM Here is a great weather site for weather buffs. It will give you the aviation weather forecast and past observations for 24 hours or more. This is handy if you want to see the past snow fall, temperature and weather trend. The site is aviationweather.gov.
1. On the left side of the home page click on METARS. 2. When the next page comes up, put the airport identifier preceded by a " k" in the blank box, i.e. kdtw for detroit. On the weatherunderground.com site you can find the ID of a cities airport. 3. Unless you know how to read aviation weather reports, select "translated". 4. Pick the time frame you want i.e. "last 18 hours" 5. Click on METARS for the observations and TAF for a forecast. 6. Enjoy. |
