Title: Proposed DN Central Regional & Ice Opti regatta combined Post by: RICHARD POTCOVA on January 23, 2008, 12:08:51 PM There has been alot of interest in holding the DN Central Regionals concurrently with the Ice Opti Central Regionals. People have expressed more pros than cons to this idea. I have already made an unofficial announcement to a number of sailors that the Regionals would be 2/16-2/17. The Opti Regionals are planned for 2/9-2/10.
I like the idea of holding it the same time as the Opti Regatta. This also allows the Gold Cup travelers to get either practice or time with their kids before leaving - or both. What are the thoughts of the class ? For those that missed the opti NA's, it was really special to see small children having fun sailing boats on the ice. It is exactly what the DN class needs. Holding the Centrals 2/09 - 2/10 with the Opti regatta would allow some needed practice before the Worlds and would allow in helping out with the kids.

There is also the potential for a poorly run combined regatta if there is not enough people to run it. I would like to hear from the Ice Opti regatta organizers and iron out the details. Moving the DN Centrals to Feb 9-10 means I loose Loretta Rehe - Chief Scorer - on Saturday due to prior commitments and most of my RC from TIYC due to their Winterfest obligations. I need people to step up and help if they want this to happen. |
