Title: antique/classic dn 37
Post by: rabill on November 12, 2008, 06:49:03 PM
i have just aquired an antique iceboat , supposedly dn 37, i found it in utica, ny and have brought it to my antique shop in sodus point ,ny, where i plan to display it along with other antique boats. i have joined the local iceboat club. when i get the iceboat assembled i will take pictures and send them to your site. in the meantime, any information your members could provide, would be appreciated. i have no intention of selling this, and would like to eventually sail it on sodus bay and/or travel with it to display at various meets.  thanks , Ron at Sodus Point.

Ron,

I have an antique also - #46.  I bought it from the original owner, who built it in the Detroit News workshop in 1938 (he also built one in 1937, but all of those boats broke due to a design flaw).

I would love to have some pictures to put on the IDNIYRA website.  I also have the original 1938 plans if you need any info on construction.

Unfortunately you didn't give us an email address to contact you, so hopefully you'll read this post.
