Title: Strat Hendrie Memorial Trophy, Cass Lake, Feb. 1st, 2009 Post by: dn4379 on March 01, 2009, 06:15:35 PM About ten DNs raced a five race series this afternoon. Winds were brisk and shifty; typical Cass Lake shifty. Ice was a little bumpy but it was the hard right shifts that made life exciting,even scary on the Starboard layline and the downwind legs which sometimes turned into sheet way out reaching. One mast succumbed to the conditions. Ron and Matt were tied up going into the fifth race. Matt Struble came out ahead to win the event. John Harper was third.
Four or five Ice-Opties were sailing and did a race or two. An Arrow was available for people to get their first iceboat ride and several did. Looking forward to the Centrals and or Westerns and of course the Fun Regatta in Traverse City; if you attended the World Championships you know what great hosts the Traverse City club is.
