Title: Northwind Iceboats Weather Reporting Post by: miked on October 23, 2009, 12:20:18 PM Hi, I'm webmaster over at northwindiceboats.com and I'm trying to come up with a
section of our site in which the most popular locations for iceboating have weather reports specific to the iceboating community. What I would like from you guys is your feedback on 1) Which locations (Preferably By Zip Code) are most important? 2) The data I have to work with is hourly temperature, wind speed, and pressure so what would constitute good iceboating weather given that info? I'm currently thinking of using 3 days of all below 0c temps, high current wind speed and low current pressure. If you suggest something different, please let me know. Thanks. www.northwindiceboats.com Title: Re: Northwind Iceboats Weather Reporting Post by: DN5135 on October 23, 2009, 09:51:52 PM I'd like to see Chautauqua Lake, NY posted. 14712 Bemus Point is mid lake.
Thanks, Jeff Title: Re: Northwind Iceboats Weather Reporting Post by: Geoff Sobering on October 23, 2009, 09:53:27 PM Are you thinking sites in just the East/North-East or nationwide?

There are several free apis or php scripts out I saw one been used for ski conditions. Also some what trending but as season starts could set up a Twitter account and people could tweet ice reports with link to map? could keep account limited to iceboaters Title: Re: Northwind Iceboats Weather Reporting Post by: miked on October 25, 2009, 11:06:09 AM Any more suggestions for what constitutes a "good" day and location for iceboating given a full temperature, wind and pressure history and forecast? That would be really helpful. Is 3 days of subzero temps usually enough to freeze the ground real good?
