Title: British Ice
Post by: Ken Smith on December 08, 2010, 07:23:27 AM
Gareth Rowland  from Mablethorpe plans on ice sailing on Pennington Flash NW of Manchester.  Set up and practice will be wednesday,  Thursday will be the first ever British ice yacht  Championships.  the sailing this last weekend was postponed because although there was enough ice, there was no wind! the forcast is for more wind but getting warmer, so we have a really narrrow window for good ice.

at the moment we havemore than 4" ice on the lake,

it's a small lake, maybe an oval track would be a smart call...

Great to read about iceboating in Lancashire. My family is originally from Blackburn, with roots going back to the 18th century in Ribchester. Never thought it was cold enough in Britain.
