Title: Thunder Bay Ice
Post by: DN 5449 on March 22, 2011, 07:05:19 PM
Just came in from being out on the ice on the Bay here in Thunder Bay.Rain over the weekend combined with cold temps. have made for a big smooth plate of ice out on the Bay.Plan on sailing Thurs. Tempetures are calling for lows of -18 C at night and highs of -4 right thru the weekend.Ice is still 30" +,could make for a great 4 + days of sailing.

Another faqntastic day on the ice.Probably put on over a 100 miles on the boat between sailing yesterday and today.Perfect ice boating weather,sunny -2 Celcious and nice 10-12 mph wind and miles of ice (I would rate as a 8).It does not get any better then this. :)

That video was in maybe 10 mph wind,also me and my buddy weigh under 300 LBS combined.Not sure if you get a good view but maybe you could comment on the amount of mast bend.

Looked at t he videos didnt see any noticeable mast bend. I f you look at head stay should see 1ft   or more  for extreme bend, some guys are going for less bend .

 Here is a pic of my son testing one of our designs, plank is a little soft
using a old FO1 sail
Mast I made about 2 years ago #38
