FYI:  There was about a 30x50 Ice Hole discovered Just East of the course that was being sailed Sunday.
It is located approximately 50' toward shore from this GPS Point: 44.21.376 N  84.45.086W  any sailors/scouts on Houghton lake should avoid that area, until it has been tested.  It is unknown why it stated open as there was no evidence of birds gathering there.  Possible spring, or current pushed up by differentiating lake bottom contours.
This sight is a possibility for next weeks scheduled Central Region Regatta.  Forecasts are for 2-5 inches Snow between now and Wednesday morning, so we must stay vigilant in our search for new clean ice.  thanks to all who came out and played and to all who help find this ice!!

Title: Houghton Lake snowed out

Got word Dec. 10 that Houghton Lake has received more than six inches of snow. Good thing the large turnout Saturday got to sail it while conditions were fabulous.
