I have never wrapped a runner plank with glass fiber, but have generally just epoxied and varnished the bare wood.

I have added 6 inch wide strips of 12 uni to the bottom of a plank: one 4 ft strip took a 94 lbs/in plank to 100 lbs/in.  Adding another 5 ft and then a 6 ft strip took it from 100 lbs/in to 113 lbs/in.  So it looks like you get  +6 lbs/in per 6 inch wide strip of uni on the bottom, applied wet under squeeged-out peel ply.

Has anyone done before and after stiffness measurements with a full wrap of (say) 6 ounce glass cloth?  I am tempted to try a wrap, but don't want to ruin a good basic plank by making it too stiff.  At my present weight I need a pretty soft runner plank (85 lbs/in or so).

It worked out very well in 2007 (I think) on Green Bay at Marinette-Menominee.

The Northwest Regatta and the DN NorthAmericans have overlapping dates on January 18th & 19th. If they are sailed together on a typical inland lake there probably wouldn’t be space to sail both regattas simultaneously. Which Regatta would take priority?

Always thought it was too bad we didn't have team wear like other countries, so I designed some for DN North America. There's a USA version and a Canada version, men's model and women's model; and sizes from S to 3XL.  Cost will be in the neighborhood of $125 depending on quantity discount we are able to earn.  Please visit the IDNIYRA Facebook page for pictures and sizing info.  (Forum seems to be very limited with file size of attachments).  If you like what you see and want in on the order, let me know via email.  dhearnUS5352@gmail.com.   I'd like to deliver jackets to the North American Championships in January, because I don't want to have to ship. (Disclaimer: This is not a "sanctioned" initiative, nor has the DN logo design that appears on the jackets been adopted by the Class. I just happen to like the jacket, logo and graphics, myself, and I'm opening up the order to anyone else who does, too).

Order cutoff-- Monday, December 16

See you on the ice!

Daniel

Rust is on the sides, the edges are good, and workable/ stonable.  These are not my runners they are a friends who is new and just bought the boat. For some reason my pic wont load, but is along the side, just above the edge, it is kind of built up almost corrosion, with some minor pitting.  Do I just start wet sanding til it gets smooth? Leave it alone? use vinegar or some other rust remover?

Thanks
Pete
