On behalf of TIYC I would like to thank all who came out to sail this past weekend at Maumee Bay.
While the ice conditions were not as great as we would like due to snow, speeds of 46 mph were measured on Saturday during the Greiner Open Regatta. Skip Dieball edged out John Harper for first place in a contest that had the top 4 boats in very close.
Sunday we had 3 more races plus a few scrub races in what became very sticky hard drifts 2" or less. We had to wait until afternoon for the wind to come up enough to sail a windward leeward. Racing was very tricky, 3/16 inserts were pretty good for this, but those with the snow runners, had an edge getting their boats up to speed.
