Today we went 10 miles north from Fond Du Lac along western coast to look for convenient launching site. There were many open waters all the way up.

We also checked launching from The Schmitty's in FDL. Ice was hard but very bumpy. A lot of sand on the ice for the first 300 yards.

After that adviced by renegate sailor we looked up launching site near by Sunset Supper Club in Taycheedah. Also bumpy first 300 yards with lots of sand. Then ice gets smoother but I would rate it 6-7/10. No snow. We walked 1/2 mile until noticed two spots with open water 3 feet in diameter each.

See the GPS screen shot for location of open water.

Tomek,

Will you continue to search for regatta ice and launching on Lake Winnebago?

With sand and open waters, do you want to look for safer ice on another lake?

What is your phone number for text messages?

We give up Winnebago for today. Open spots will be solid frozen soonest tomorrow. Looking for options.
