The 2018 DN Eastern Regional Championship scheduled for January 13-14 is postponed until further notice due to a mixed bag of Precipitation headed for the entire Mid Atlantic and North East coast. Take this time to fine tune your gear for the upcoming North Americans with registration slated for Sunday evening January 21st.

All,
  With two of our major Eastern Region/NEIYA Championships left to sail (The DN Eastern Regionals and The New England's) and March only a few weeks away please be ready to go for either or both of these championship weekends if you want to race. We could be dealing with rising lake levels and constant changing of surface conditions so expect the calls to be late Thursday or even mid day Friday. This is your prep warning and we are going to try and do some sailing if mother nature allows since the base is still there up north at several venues.
  For the Eastern's you will need to be a current member of IDNIYRA and at least have paid your one time sail # registration fee with the class. It will be ok to compete if you have not received the specific number from the class treasurer or installed it at the start of the event. You will however need to have a sail # that is unique to you and your craft, no duplicates.  na.idniyra.org
  Also, make sure you print out your $300,000 liability insurance policy to have in hand and on site. I don't care if you sailed in the NA's and had it there- this is a different championship and it requires the policy to be present at the time of registration, period. No exceptions. The NOR for the Eastern's will be coming out later in the week so keep an eye out here and theneiya.org

NOTICE OF RACE
Eastern Lakes Regional DN Championship Regatta 2018
North American Eastern Region
Organizing Authority: International DN Ice Yacht Racing Association and the North American Eastern Region
1. Rules:
1.1 All races will be governed by the Racing Rules of the National Iceboat Authority; the By-Laws of the IDNIYRA, and Official Specifications of the DN Ice Yacht; the Notice of Race, including any amendments to the Notice of Race, (except as modified by the sailing instructions) and the Sailing Instructions.
1.2 The Sailing Instructions can be modified at the Skippers Meeting and by a notice posted on the official notice board.
1.3 Sail number does not need to match fuselage number or skippers registered IDNIYRA number but does need to be unique to each skippers sail (no duplicates on course)
1.4 Nine race series per fleet – 3 race minimum in the Gold Fleet will constitute the regatta. Fleets - Gold and possible Silver Fleet/ Plate Runner Division/Rookie Division, Volunteer split for fleets if needed. Discard race after 6 races sailed.
2. Eligibility:
2.1 All DN class yachts meeting the requirements of the Official Specifications and whose skippers meet the requirements of the By-Laws of the IDNIYRA as stated in the section IDNIYRA Regattas are eligible to enter and race in the championship.
2.2 Skipper needs to be a current member of IDNIYRA in good standing and have paid their 1 time sail number fee.
3. Site Information and Postings:
3.1 The primary site is within the North American Eastern Region
3.2 Site and Headquarters Information will be determined by the regatta organizer.
3.3 Official regatta information, updates and accommodations: dnamerica.org, theneiya.org
4. Entry and Fee:
4.1 Registration will be at the launch site on Saturday morning
4.2 Registration fee: $20 US
5. Schedule of Events:
Sat 9:15-10am on ice registration
Sat 10am Skippers Meeting
Sat 11am First start
Sunday 10:00am First start. No race will start after 4PM
6. Sailing instructions
6.1 Official Sailing Instructions will be provided at registration.
7. Prizes
7.1 We are trying to locate any and all trophies for this event.
8. Proof of Insurance
8.1 Proof of personal or race liability insurance ($300,000 US minimum) 8.2 A hard copy of the policy must present at the time of registration. No exceptions.

  All,
   Now that a good sized group of us have had time to get out the last few weeks and stretch those neck muscles it is time to try and get the 2018 IDNIYRA Easterns off.  This is an early warning to be ready to go as the call will be made Friday 12/14 by 4pm. Things are locking up all over Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire, as always there is some unsettled weather headed this way so we will have to prep equipment and be ready for the call if we can find a suitable venue. If you have Ice please let me know!  This will be the last attempt for the 2018 Easterns with the following weeks holiday schedule. Please make sure you are a member of IDNIYRA, have a proper registered sail # and bring a copy of your $300,000 liability insurance coverage, more info at idniyra.org.
