If you don't live in the outer fringes, the season is over.  I can hear the fat lady singing.

SO now is the time to finish the iceboat projects.

Tip 1:  Put the boat away ready for the Western Challenge.  It is only eight months away.

Tip 2:  Sharpen and preserve all the runners so they are ready to go.

TIp 3:  WRITE DOWN what worked and what did not, and put the comments inside the boat or hardware bag.

Tip 4:  WRITE DOWN your work list.  You can spread the list over the summer or (more likely) start in in October.

My personal work lists: 

--Patch the dings and paint scratches in the hull.

--Replace all the pins in the forestay rigging.

--Change the tiller head to a low profile section.

--Change that cool rope I bought last year into a sheet.  (left over from last spring)

--Make a new plank. (third year coming)

--Get or make a boom for teh spare boat (third year coming)

Good suggestions all!

My personal list:

• Remove my steering tube, plug the hole and re-drill at 90° instead of the slight angle it's at now.
• Move my plank attach plates in to the standard 16" spacing.
• Replace the external plank attach plates on my backup hull with internal plates at 16".
• Return the steering chock I borrowed and get a new stainless-steel Euro-style chock.
• Get my 3/16" 440C insert repaired.
• Carefully look over the boat for any damage I missed in the relatively rapid repair after the GC/NAs.
• Finally assemble the 100° 1/4" inserts.

And finally, maybe build a new hull if I have time and $...

Oh yeah - finish my Renegade...

My first sail this season was on fast clear ice. I spun out to leeward and was tossed from my boat. Ouch! I suffered some bruises but it could have been worse. I determined I forgot to follow my custom to sharpen my runners before off-season storage.

This is my end season to-do list:

Runners – sharpen so they never get dull or nicked
Lead – remove all
Sails – store extra wind
Track shoes – insert faster feet.
Masts – make unbreakable
Hull – apply numbers so I can find my boat
