How smooth does the ice have to be to sail.On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate the smoothness of the ice that was in Thunder Bay for the N.A 's.

I'd rate the ice at Thunder Bay at around 8 or 9.
The main defect was the "orange peel" bumps on the surface. The "runner width" cracks were also an issue.

Being new to this I had the impression that you had to sail on perfect ice.It seems these boats will handle some pretty bumpy ice.
