It appears that the Centrals will not be happening this weekend, so we're going continue holding in the hope of suitable ice in the region soon.  If the Centrals don't happen prior to the DN North Americans, another possiblility is to stage the event in conjunction with the Fun Regatta in the Traverse City area.  That regatta is slated for early March.  Stay tuned and please pass along the word and the attached flyer to all interested parties.  Not to worry, it's going to happen!  With questions, contact Daniel Hearn at danielhearn@tds.net or 608-692-4007.

This being Thursday afternoon, with few (one?) identified ice sheets in the Central Region, and none yet sailed, the 2012 Ice Optimist North Americans will continue on postponement for the weekend of January 28-29.  There is still a possibility that the Central Lakes Championships could happen this weekend, but given the late date, an "ON" call for that event will not change this decision.  If you have any questions, please contact danielhearn@tds.net    608-692-4007

Future possibilities include a stand-alone event or running in tandem with the Traverse City Fun Regatta.

Do to extensive conflicts for competitors and organizers alike, it will not be possible to pull on the Ice Optimist NA's this weekend with the Centrals, which were just called on last night.  A stand alone event, or the Traverse City Fun Regatta are still possibilities for this season.

The 2012 Ice Optimist North American Championships are officially "ON" for this weekend to run in tandem with the DN Central Region Championships.  Principal site will be Lake Charlevoix (Boyne City).  Stay tuned to the forum for further announcements from the Rear Commodore about Centrals. 

Ron Sherry will be coordinating the juniors at the event.  He can be reached at 586-484-5134  or c2concepts@msn.com. Please register with Ron immediately upon your arrival to the ice on Saturday morning.
