The Western Regional Regatta Primary Site has been tentatively selected.  After 4Lakes Ice Yacht Club held their successful Grandslam Dec. 29-30 on Kegonsa near Madison, WI and your rear commodore got to sail it as well, the decision has been made to call it our primary site.  Weather looks hopefully uneventful for the upcoming week but other sites with good conditions may still be considered.
Heads up to you and your traveling companions...Check back Wednesday at 6 pm for final confirmation.  The headquarters hotel will be announced at which a block of 40 rooms will be saved for us for 24 hours and need to be on your charge card by 6 pm Thursday if you'd like one.  Remaining rooms will be released at that time to the public, but you'll still be able to call later and get the iceboaters discount if you request it, if rooms are still available.  A near by alternate hotel will be mentioned, as well...with iceboaters' discounted rates.  Both hotels rates will be in the $79 to $100 range..ask for the discount.

Reminder - 1) you Must be a paid, current member of the IDNIYRA in good standing to enter.  2) BRING A COPY OF YOUR PROOF OF INSURANCE ..$300,000 minimum coverage.

2013 IDNIYRA – Western Regional Regatta
Regatta is on!  Jan. 5-6, 2013  Lake Kegonsa, just south of Madison, WI
4+ inches of ice measured last weekend and temps have been ideal for making more.

Wind currently projected at 12mph Saturday with temp of 30F.

Hotels:  Rooms at the 2 hotels closest to our site (10-15 min. away) have been blocked off thru at least 6 pm Thursday.  They are within walking distance of each other.  Ask for the regatta discount even if you call later.  Both have pools / whirlpools and continental breakfast.

It is east of and under a mile to Springers.  Don’t drive on the ice.  $4 ramp fee.
For your convenience, we will have 4wheelers there to tow your trailer to Springers where you can use the parking lot for your vehical.

Registration:  See the NOR for specifics. Friday 8-10 pm next door to Hotel – Tully’s Food & Spirits.  We hear they have a great and inexpensive Friday Fish Fry.   Registration continues at Springers, Saturday 8-9 am.

A thumbs-up at registration will help them plan…
ALSO, also – Local Host, 4Lakes’ Commodore Don Anderson, is up for post-racing hockey on Saturday…Badgers vs. Gophers, anyone?  If you’re in…bring your stuff!     DRIVE SAFELY !

Landings:
1. Pleasant Springs Boat Landing 2257 Williams Point Drive, Stoughton, WI
http://goo.gl/maps/mor7I
We recommend this landing for the Skeeters, Nites, and Renegades. This landing has the largest parking area. Stay towards the right of the landing because there’s a creek to the left. Please roll trailers on. Bring some cash because there's a daily launching and park fee of $4. Look for the deposit box. Your Dane County Lake Access permit does not apply here.

2. Amundson Landing (Also known as Quam Landing) Quam Drive at South Quam Drive, Stoughton, WI
http://goo.gl/maps/3cC2d
This is a small landing with very limited parking. Vehicles with attached trailers are not allowed to park in the surrounding neighborhood.

3. Springers 3097 Sunnyside St., Stoughton, WI
http://goo.gl/maps/2Rs7t
Springers (formerly Sunnyside) is a nice restaurant and bar on the east side of Lake Kegonsa. Sadly, the DNR closed down their boat launch a few years ago. However, it would be possible to carry a DN hull and equipment to the ice from their parking lot. Springers is a great venue for those who want to come and watch ice boats racing.

We plan on having the 4wheelers ready for towing trailers from Pleasant Springs to the front of Springers at noon on Friday.  Thanks for your patience.
