Slush Runners

Thinking of building a set of Slush Runners (Scott B. is probably nervous already ).Shop at School here has some angle iron.
What size angle iron do you use,is there a certain thickness?
Also can the angle iron be just epoxied on to the runner body?
Keep in mind I am trying to keep this as simple as possible.

3/4"x3/4" x 1/8" is the common one used.

It can be just epoxied on or you can use  3M 5200.
Make sure the wood bodies have the profile for the amount of .008 flat before you glue on the angle.  It is very easy to get big hollows in slush runners.

The allowed section is very specifically identified in the DN specifications E.2.f:

The steel sections allowed are American Standard ¾” (19.1 mm) x ¾” (19.1 mm) x 1/8” (3.3 mm) “angle” and 1” (25.4 mm) x 1” (25.4 mm) x 3/16” (4.8 mm) or ¼” (6.4 mm) “T”. Equivalent metric measure (DIN) sections may be used provided the dimensions are within 20% of those listed.

Thanks Geoff,1" x 1" x 3/16" is what is avaliable to me.Next step is to figure out how and what shape to bend it to.
Then the runner bodies?

1x1  stock for angles is not allowed, the 1x1 x 3/16 that is allowed  is a T section not an angle section.

You should be looking for 3/4x3/4 x 1/8" 304 stainless angle stock.  It is not that expensive, so use the right stuff.  Or jsut buy it prebent from Northwind iceboats= easier

Hi, i am very heavy and would like to build a set of slushrunners with a bigger angle. I made a test: I took a 25x25x4mm angle iron. I compressed/flattened it in a big machine i got. It turned out to be shaped with a little 90degree middle section. Close to the midsection it bent out and app 15 mm stayed straight with a very flat angle that can lift me. They were very beautiful!

Is it allowed to shape the iron like that?
Is it allowed to sand the runners concave?
