Houghton Lake was sailed on Saturday untill 3.  Inserts ruled the day. Angles were fun, but could not compete with the inserts. Shore line was in great shape on Saturday.  With today's below freezing temps, it should be in great shape for Tuesday.
We will be gathering tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/2/13 at the DNR launch for a day of racing.

See you on the ice,

David

Racing neck and neck with George Reis, March '07

I sailed Houghton Lake Tuesday with six other DN racers from around the State. The ice was plenty hard and we flew in the 16 to 21 mph wind.

The ice is 22 inches thick; however, a lead opened near the west shore where we launched in December for the Central Lakes Championship.

And this news from the Grand Traverse Ice Yacht Club:

Elk lake and South lake Lelaneau are being sailed today (Wednesday). We are looking for a site for the coming weekend final sail of the year or if the ice gets too soft a gathering at lake and picnic? I'll keep you all updated.   Bob Gray
