Racing neck and neck with George Reis, March '07

« on: March 21, 2014, 07:42:24 AM »

Muskegon has sailable ice now, and the weekend forecast is for below freezing temperatures and wind.

The West Michigan Ice Yacht Club invites one and all to sail with us this weekend. Launch at Cottage Grove city park at the west end of the lake.

We'll be scrub racing and we're planning extra fun for Sunday ... The inaugural ice-boaters Bar Hop Cruise!

Lets get out of the cold and wind while we cruise Muskegon Lake and warm up at these hot spots around the shore.

Just follow the locals, we know the way!
Schedule:

Bear Lake Tavern - North Muskegon:  noon to 1:30 pm
(park at north side of Pointe Marine, walk across Ruddiman)

The Lake House at the Shore Line Inn hotel: 1:30 - 3 pm
(park at western arm of marina, walk up bank to bar)

Marine Tap Room - Lakeside: 3 -4:30 pm
(at Milwaukee Clipper, sail past east side to Great Lakes Marina near public launch ramp. Park at dock, up stairs, and across Lakeshore Drive to bar)

Muskegon Yacht Club: 4:30 pm +
(avoid bubbled open water, arrive high and dry)

Arrive at any destination and join up with the group to warm up, enjoy a drink and have something to eat. Do one or do them all!

Enjoy revelry and camaraderie at each destination!

If we're having a good time and get behind, so what. Linger wherever as long as you want. We'll have a good time regardless. Make sure you get plenty of sailing in between stops.
