Tight Chalks

Help!
I was playing around with runner alignment in my basement. I got things at a good starting point, (but need fine-tuning down the road), not the point.
After I cranked down the bolts I have not been able to get the runners back in the chalks, and it was very hard to get them out.
Does this mean my chalks are bent or mounted incorrectly? The same chalks and runners worked last year, one was tight and one was fine.
Thoughts??

If they are Sarns alum chicks they will be tighter on the
Ice as the alum will shrink
Measure use a caliper near plank then out to edge front and back
You can straighten them use a long threaded bolt on bolt hole
With nuts on inside , crank them out to widen center if that is what is needed
Or just tight if you need to bring ends in
Use a large machine clamp to bring in ends
A little at a time
If the are good you need to sand down
Runners so they fit and shim keep a little loose
As chock will shrink in cold
Good luck

Pete,
I'd probably remove the chocks and check to see if they are still tight.
If they are, then Bob's suggestions for loosening them would be the next step.
If they aren't tight (or as tight) then I'd look very carefully at the chock and plank mating surfaces to make sure they're both flat so that you're not distorting the chocks as you tighten the bolts.
Cheers,
Geoff S.
