We are sending out a warning shot with our intentions of running the Eastern's this weekend off of Shelbourne town beach just south of Burlington, VT on the broad lake of Champlain.  We have a rain event moving through the region on wednesday night and thursday that will dictate our decision to be made on friday around noon after it has been sailed. Be ready to roll!

IDNIYRA Notice of Race
2015 Eastern Region DN Championship
Dates: March 28-29

1.   Rules:
All races will be governed by the Racing Rules of the NIA (National Iceboat Authority) and the  the By-Laws of the IDNIYRA.

2.    Eligibility:
Open to All DN class yachts meeting the requirements of the Official Specifications and whose skippers are in good standing with the IDNIYRA are eligible. Proof of personal liability insurance ($300,000) will be needed at the time of registration.

3.   Site Information and Postings:
A.   Eastern Region, United States
B.   Site Information will be posted on the NEIYA Hotline: 508-377-6100 #8
C.   When determined, Site Information will be posted on the IDNIYRA bulletin board, theneiya.org and the Iceboating Yahoo Group.

4.   Races:
A.   Three race minimum will constitute a regatta.  A drop race after 5 races have been completed
B.   First race scheduled for 11:00am Saturday, March 28.

5.   Registration is 9-10:00am on the ice in the Pits on Saturday morning.

6.   Sailing instructions will be posted at the launch site. Final sailing instructions will be delivered at skippers meeting before first race.

7. Trophies - This regatta has great historic trophies. I am seeking the location of all these trophies and information on the early years of this regatta.

Eben, T and Chad,

With a view to maximizing attendance the Canadian Region will not plan on running the Canadians this weekend.  It also appears from early reports that Champlain ice is likely to be better than Kingston - both sites are getting rain so I guess the odds of drain holes are even. 

Those of us planning on attending who are travelling from Nova Scotia are looking at 13 hours of driving to Shelburne VT per Google (plus gas and nature stops), so please get the final confirmation out on Friday as early as possible.
