MICHAEL:
Another option 2 1/2 miles away, on Green Lake is the Historic Spicer Castle. Www.spicercastle. This is a 17 room B&B. Rates start at $122/ night. No discount available. Breakfast is served at 9! I told them the Iceboaters would need breakfast at 8. They may be able to do so if enough of these rooms book. Pretty cool 1895 mansion! Phone 320-796-5870.

MICHAEL:
Thursday update

Happy New Year!

1. If you want to race and do not have hull numbers, that is waived in the SI's. If your sail number does not match your IDNIYRA membership number, that too is waived in the SI's. All you need is a discreet number on the sail unique to the boat, like a large 1 or 2 marked on the sail of adequate size! You do need to be a current IDNIYRA member. You can pay that at registration. $25

2. Registration times changed to Friday 6:30-7:30 PM at Headquarters Hotel, Northern Inn in Spicer.
 154 Lake Ave South
 Spicer, Mn
 Lobby and breakfast room.

3. Insurance needed only requires a current homeowner or rental policy with at least $300,000 liability limits. An easy tip is to take a picture with your phone of the Summary or Declarations page. Circle your name, policy period and liability limits. Or bring a paper copy. Some people have downloaded this information to their IDNIYRA page. I do not have administrative rights to view, so bring along a photo or paper copy.

4. If you are trying to register on line or pay 2016 dues, and are not able to log in and can't get a new password, forget it for now and just register at the door during the time periods allowed. If you roll in late on Saturday after 9:30 AM skippers meeting, look for Deb Whitehorse, chief scoring official, and she will give you a registration form to register and pay on the ice( try not to do this please)

5. Novice or Junior sailors under 24 years of age have a reduced entry fee of only $10. You still need to be a current IDNIYRA member.

6. The official notice board will be in the lobby of the Northern Inn

7. Friday evening social gathering at Zorbaz on Green Lake after scrub racing Friday. Right across the street from Headquarters Hotel.

8. Trailers can be backed on he ice at the ramp. Vehicles in the parking lot. You may also travel over the sand beach and back trailer on the ice and leave your vehicle attached. Try to protect our good ramp and the courtesy of the county park.

9. Last, on Friday, a scrub course with lime green marks will be set up by Mark Christenson and others after they scout the ice. The predicted winds may be up in the 15mph range. It is imperative everyone sails safe and watches closely. Do not just go out on the scrub course just tooling around. That is when accidents happen on fast ice like this! Do not sail past the new ice to the NE side of the lake, known thin ice may be present. This area has not been sailed or scouted and has some crusty old snow. It will be easy to see if you go to far NE. Our sailing area is in front of the landing in Spicer and to your left. We estimate this is a 1.5 X 2 mile area all on the new ice, measured at close to 5".

MICHAEL:
1. Friday afternoon from 11 AM-4 PM Zorbaz on Green Lake has Bloody Mary New Years specials. After 4 PM they are an open bar and restaurant just next door to the landing. If our crowd gets too large they will have the back party room for us. Order drinks and food at the bar(no wait staff). Friday dinner on your own at Zorbaz, O'Neil's Bar & Resturant, downtown Spicer or in Willmar, 15 miles south.

2. The local daily news paper The West Central Tribune will be covering our event both Friday and Saturday. They have photo and video equipment being sent out also.

3. Dan Haney is the PRO with Fred Stritt Asst. I have one confirmed volunteer for Saturday to assist them on the course. I could use at least one more for Saturday and two for Sunday. Please call me at 612-868-2949 if you are interested. (you can't race and assist RC too, except to help move the start line in the event of a wind shift.)
