I have several external hounds for sale 1/8 Stainless steel sides with 3/16
front tang  solid 1 piece. Will accept Struble spreader,or other similar rigging. Easier to install than internal hound and will not fail gauranteed!
These will fit Kent profile masts and Sherry masts. May need minor adjustment for perfect fit on Sherry masts.
These are bullet proof and will not fail. Installed on outside of mast with 10 SS screws.  $50.00 plus shipping

Got one, love it.

The longer bolt transfers the mast twist loads better.  The bearing area between the bolt and hound is larger than an internal hound, and is larger and not subjected to twisting, so the bolt holes won't elongate.

I put one on over the Kent style hole, with no other mod, and felt that the mast rotation was far better during tacks.  I put one on twice over new mast blanks, also no problem.  Bob's new fittings are a slightly heavier gauge metal and truly bulletproof.  The lighter gauge also worked fine, with no failures.

I have never tried to remove an internal hound on purpose, so I don't know how hard that is.
