I purchased a DN in Mi. after totaling my hull and plank in a spin out. At the time I was told it was the pattern boat for Ron Sherry's clone hulls. The hull is minimum length.

The mast is fiberglass, It was molded with a little side to side bend near the top. I was told this was also one of Ron's and that it was one of his early racing f/g masts.

The sail is a Doyle Boston. It has DN4789 on it (Chris Clark??)  It is labeled with an "8" in the clue and with SWM 08  257

I'd really like to know the history of this boat. Most importantly, I'd like to know about the mast and sail. I am curious about how competitive the mast would be and if the sail is similar to those used today and also what style it is.

Thanks for any info you may have.

Well I'm sure you will hate to here this, but I have a couple of questions to answer yours.  Who did you buy the from and how recently?  Does the seatback have a white dome?  Does the mast or hull have any Composite Concepts stickers on it?  If you can send me pics, mikerehe@hotmail.com, I can tell you if they were built by Ron and we can go from there.  Yes 4789 is Chris Clarks sail number.  Let me know.

Well..I bought the boat in 2002 or 2003. I can't find my records and do not recall who sold it to me other than it was supposed to have both Al and f/g masts with it and only the f/g mast was there. I was promised the Al mast at a later date as part of the deal, but that never happened. Also there was a very heavy 4 boat trailer with it which I still have and use.

The boat does not have a white dome on the seat back. Also, there are no stickers on the mast. There are stickers on the plank which I think indicate it was checked for race compliance in 95-98 if I remember correctly.  I'll get some pics out in a couple of days.  Thanks for the reply DN5144.

Unless the dome was repainted for some reason, chances are the hull was not built by Composite Concepts.  Send me some pics and I will let you know for sure.

The Sail in question: Serial number 257 was built for Chris Clark November 1993. The model #SWM 08 is a full power sail designed to be used with the stripper wood mast. This sail will not work with a modern day composite mast. If you have any questions please call me at the loft W=586.792.7212
