cad drawing of the bull nose runner shape and insert shape

I am wondering if anyone has created a cad drawing of a bull nose runner and also of a runner insert. We have access to a water jet cutter and would like to have some 440C cut up. We plan to make 26" and full length plates and some 3/16" max length inserts. If anyone could help me out with a dxf or dwg, I'd really appreciate it.  jjkester@windstream.net

There are some drawings on the European site and they are saved again in teh Yahoo group on wingboats.

There are a variety of profile details, ranging from a radius at the nose centered on the edge of the insert plate,to a larger radius centered above teh plate, to an elliptical shape at the nose.  I have also seen a leading edge straight and nearly vertical to a small radius at the bottom of the leading edge on some Russian runners.  So finding the shape you want is more a matter of preference.

Also, what I am really looking for is a cad file in dxf or dwg format to provide the shop for input into the water jet computer.

If nothing shows up here, I'll have to get a drawing made.

I bought some 36" x 3/16 inserts from Composite Concepts and made a drawing for building my insert bodies.  I can e mail you that outline (as already sharpened, not raw blank) and hole pattern in .dxf or .dwg format if you want.  There are some pretty good discussions available on what it takes to make these from raw 440c. 

I had considered doing what you are thinking about, but I am very happy to have purchased the straightened, profiled and sharpened inserts from Ron.  It would have been fun to make them myself, but I'm sure it would have taken forever to get them right.

The water jet was a FLOW system. It worked great. we made a total of 22 blades all 3/16" 420 stainless. We made 36" inserts, 26", 30", and 42" plates. These will be used on J14's and DN's. I understand the thickness isn't legal for plates, but I live in the snow belt of western NY and am more concerned with maximizing sail days. We will make some serious stifeners for the long J14 runners.
