Sail Number

I just bought an older DN with sail # 1113. The owner said it wasn't his. Is there a way to find out who had this number and can I now register it?

Sail # US 1113 belongs to Rudy Maurer.  I'm not sure how to contact Rudy offhand, but you would need a letter of transfer from him in order to obtain this sail number.

I'll add one note: the only time you really need an IDINYRA number is for racing the North American and World Championship regattas.  It's good if you plan to race in regional regattas, but most organizers will allow you to race with any sail-number, so long as it's unique in the fleet, especially if it's your first regatta.
