Inspire us with your story! Tell us how sailing an Ice Optimist has changed your life for the better and you could win one of two Sarns Hardware gift certificates! Not a registered Ice Optimist sailor? Tell us about the impact Ice Optimist sailing has had or will have on your life and you could win too! This contest is open to all current, former and aspiring European and North American Ice Optimist Sailors.
The winner of the essay contest receives a $75 USD gift certificate for Sarns Hardware.
The runner up receives a $25 USD gift certificate for Sarns Hardware.
Contest Rules:
All entries must be neatly and legibly hand written by the Ice Optimist Sailor. Your essay is limited to the front side of one 8 ˝” by 11” piece of paper. You may write as small as you wish so long as it is completely legible. At the bottom of your essay, you must write your name, sail number and country. Winning entries will be published! Therefore, your entry must also include the following statement on the back side of your essay: “We hereby give our permission to publish this essay completely written by the sailor named below as well as the sailor’s photo, in both electronic and print formats.” Both the sailor and her/his parent or legal guardian must print and sign their names below this statement and write the date. A photograph of you, the sailor, with your Ice Optimist must be included. If you are an aspiring Ice Optimist sailor or do not have a photo of you with a boat, please send us a photo of you with your best Ice Optimist smile. Print your name, sail number and country on the bottom left corner on the back of the photo. (Please use a soft tip marker since ball point pens indent and ruin photos.)
Typed essays, emailed essays and faxed essays will be disqualified. Entries without the permission statement and signatures on the back will be disqualified. If the sailor has a disability that prevents her/him from handwriting this essay, contact Cathy at Sarns. Shipping charges on gift certificate orders is additional.
All entries must be received by Sarns Hardware no later than 2:00 pm on
December 24, 2010. Winners will be announced right after New Years so they can enjoy their hardware this season!
