John Curtis and I have discussed February 14/15 or 21/22 as possible dates for the Canadian Championships, with Kingston Ontario as the primary site (ice gods willing), and have a draft Notice of Race ready to go.

Andre Baby has just reported promising ice at Mississquoi Bay, Lake Champlain (the Canadian end of the lake).  With a promising weather forecast for this weekend Andre has suggested that the Canadians be held at that site, January 2/3, 2015.  There is a motel available as a regatta headquarters. Racing this weekend would be a big deal in the east where there hasn't been much ice to date.   Andre and Bob Dill are doing an ice check tomorrow.

I am a little uncomfortable calling an IDNIYRA regional event at such short notice, so I would like to hear responses to the following:

If you would consider coming to the Canadian Championships, would you prefer:

(1) racing this weekend at short notice on Mississquoi Bay (near Montreal) on known ice, or
(2) racing in in mid February, with greater warning, with primary site of Kingston (ice gods willing).

Please  reply to this post if you have an opinion.

As of 0930 AST Wednesday there were 9 responses to the poll with no strong support for the Mississquoi proposal.  Andre Baby is scheduling scratch racing for Mississquoi Bay the weekend of 3 January.

Se separate post for NOR for February
