Welcome!

We have the board up, and it is working.  Mostly.

The board is currently in a status of working prototype.  The intent was to get some people posting and exercising the features to find out what worked and what did not.  Success so far.  The status and permissions is still being tweeked.  The link to find the unread messages is not functional.  Graphics and some dressing features on the top of the page are still coming.

But, it is still a prototype and not the final version.  In revision, it is possible and likely that some current posts will be lost, that registration will have to be done again.  If the system does not recognize your username, register with it and use it again if you wish.  Save on your own archive any posts you want to load again should they disappear.

There will be a "paid member" list that allows access to some forums.  We will need a name, address and sail number to identify you as a paid member, so expect the question.  There may be a day or three delay in this once it is up to confirm your membership status withe the treasurer.

One last thing regarding feedback.  Feel free to post feedback on the site.  Please refrain from sending e-mail to the web developers.  They have too many bosses.  And remember the golden rule:  He who has the gold makes the rules.  The boys at acuity, the web developers, will take direction from one source only, so don't harass them.  Harass me.  I am perfectly capable of ignoring you as well as anybody.  But if you make a good point, I can get it fixed.

Sailing  is only weeks away.  Are you ready?   Grin

The link to find the unread messages is not functional.

The "Show unread posts since last visit." and "Show new replies to your posts." have been working for me.

But if you make a good point, I can get it fixed.

My only request: spellcheck! Grin

Cheers,

Geoff:

I delete all cookies and history at the end of each web session, for security prposes.  Likely the board uses a cookie to keep track of prior posts and read files.  This is a guess.  Because it is not working for me.

Also please post how yo get a pretty picture to go with your posts...

THnaks,

Ken

Geoff:
If you use and IE based browser, I highly recommend "ie Spell Checker", a free download that checks spelling on all forms.

Ick, IE... Grin

I understand Firefox 2.0 has a spellchecker build in, too.  I need to upgrade someday soon....

I've had very good luck with the SMF spellchecker; it seems to "get it right" more times than most other spellcheckers I've used.

That's probably it.  Most browsers these days allow more fine-grained control over cookies and such.  You may be able to selectively allow sites (ex. dnamerica.org) to set cookies, while preventing others from doing so.

Well, in my case the prettiness comes from Tammy Sawyer and her coverage of last year's Western Regional regatta.  Once you have a pretty photo, you can set it in your profile.  For some reason the profile editing options aren't showing up anymore; they are usually on the left-hand side of a user's profile page.  Perhaps registration and editing existing profiles are linked, and editing will come back when registrations are enabled again...

I just upgraded to Firefox 2.0 and the spell-checker seems to work very nicely (a bit too much like MS Word, with red squiggly underlines for mis-spelled words).
