With my "very limited "experience of sailing ice boats,the one thing (among many other) I do find similar to sailing cats is your responce time has to be much quicker then with sailing monohulls.That includes decisions and reflexes( on the main sheet and tiller).
Also sailing upwind on a cat there is a wider groove (then monohulls),some are pointers and other footers and both styles can work.I am thinking Ice boats would be similar.
