Ken,
Is the $85 for both races or have we had a substantial increase in fees from last year.

Bob:

We looked at the event, trophies, give-aways, content and expenses from the worlds in 2009.  Having attended events on both continents several times, we are still substantially less expensive than the European events, but have not raised our fees in several years.  This year we intend to do provide a world class event.  To answer your question directly, see the two Notices of Race.

Highlights to expect this year:  A popular take-home item, distinctive trophies, a dinner banquet, and of course great racing, a well-run regatta, terrific camaraderie, and fantastic weather and ice.  We can promise 5 of seven and are pretty sure of a sixth.

The worlds registration fee is up a little, the late registration fee is the same as 2009.  Remember, expenses are up and we now have a registration benefit for rookies and returnees, which has to be built into the budget.  The North American fees are identical to those in 2009.

Its fun to predict the budget:  How many entrants?  How many late?  (Income expected);  Where will we be, how expensive are rooms and meals and gas for the RC and scorers? Will we need port-a-pots or not?  Will we need to hire some local support to get on or off the ice?  Will we have to pay an access fee?(Expected expenses); other costs/expenses are fixed and controllable.

The consensus of the committee was for the rates and fees quoted.  We hope you will be a happy attendee.
