Is this a good read and is it relevant to the new designs?

Its a good read but a little dated for modern designs. Ken Smith had a cd available , The collective wisdom " which had archives of the Bulletin board for past several years, May be more relevant to newer designs.

So sounds like I should just save $15 (probably put it in the budget for things I will break on the boat)

I would say splurge and get the book-- it is relevant enough and is a must-read for every iceboater. More info in there than you can shake a stick at, plus Lloyd and Warner have a writing style that can't be beat.
Maybe you can get Lloyd to autograph it for you!

If you don't get here this way, take a look.
DNamerica.org
The opening page can jump you to here, to Collective Wisdom, which has several years of edited archive discussions, several great articles, and more, to a snow cover site, and to the IDNIYRA main page.
